The Queen of Spades

Queen of SpadesIn the summer of 2015 the world wide known Tchaikovsky opera The Queen of Spades will be shown in Rome.

The Queen of Spades is an opera in 3 acts written by Pyotr IIyich Tchaikovsky and the libretto was composed by his brother, Modest Tchaikovsky. The story of the opera is based on the novel The Queen of Spades by Alexander Pushkin.
The story of the opera takes place in St. Petersburg in Russia in the 18th century. The main characters in the opera are Herman who is the officer of the Czar’s guard, Count Tomsky who is the friend of Herman, Chekalinsky who is an officer, Surin and Chaplitsky who are also officers, Countess, Liza who is the granddaughter of the countess and so on.

The Queen of Spades opera will premier on Friday 19th June 2015 in Rome at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. The other performances will be shown on 21st June, 23rd June, 25th June, 27th June and the last one will be on 30th June 2015.

Giselle: Opera

Giselle OperaThe opera Giselle will be back in Rome in October 2015. Giselle, or The Willis is a romantic ballet in two acts that was first performed in 1841 in Paris. The choreographers of the ballet are Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, the music was written by Adolphe Adam and the libretto was written by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Thèophile Gautier.

Giselle is about a peasant young girl, Giselle who dies when she finds out her lover is engaged to another woman. After she dies a group of supernatural woman, called the Willis summon Giselle from death. The Willis are known for dance man to death which they plan to do with Giselle’s lover too but the love of the girl frees him from them.
The ballet Giselle can be seen this year in October in Rome.

The 8 ballet performance will take place at the Teatro dell Opera di Roma and the performances will be held from the 20th October to the 27th October 2015. Tickets for the ballet are already available.

The Marriage of Figaro, in Italian Le nozze di Figaro, will be shown at the Teatro Costanzi.

The Le nozze di Figaro is one of the best known and most famous operas by Mozart in the whole world. The worldwide known Marriage of Figaro is a comic opera in four acts. Mozart composed the opera in 1786 and the Italian libretto was written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The premier of the Le nozze di Figaro was 1st May in 1786. The story of the opera is based on a stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 and he died in 1791. He was a composer of the Classical era. Mozart is one of the most influential composers of all time and he is considered one of the most outstanding musicians on the whole world.

During his life he wrote multiple worldwide known operas and numerous operas by him such as the Don Giovanni, The Marrige of Figaro and so on are still played in the operas. The Le nozze di Figaro opera will be held at the Teatro Costanzi in the capital of Italy in Rome.
