Circus Maximus

Circus Maximus is an old Roman racing track (hippodrome) located between the Palatine Hill and the Aventine Hill. Here they arranged horses races and other athletic competitions, but unfortunately the arena was destroyed and the materials were used elsewhere. Today only grass and a few ruins can be seen of the once so mighty and giant arena.

The area is still in use from time to time, for example are large outdoor concerts arranged here.
